Visual Basic (VB) is the third-generation event-driven programming language and integrated development environment (IDE) from Microsoft for its COM programming model. Visual Basic is relatively easy to learn and use. Visual Basic was derived from BASIC and enables the rapid application development (RAD) of graphical user interface (GUI) applications, access to databases using Data Access Objects, Remote Data Objects, or ActiveX Data Objects, and creation of ActiveX controls and objects. Scripting languages such as VBA and VBScript are syntactically similar to Visual Basic, but perform differently.
A programmer can put together an application using the components provided with Visual Basic itself. Programs written in Visual Basic can also use the Windows API, but doing so requires external function declarations.

Suhritham is a charity/donation management software. it can be used by churches, charity event organizers, festival organizers and such. This can be used small as well as large organizations.
Using this software, a detailed account of money coming in, in the form of cash,cheque,DD..etc can be kept. The software has provision for keeping track of expenses as well. In depth login details is also provided in the software. Reporting and printing facility is also there.
Suhritham was initially made for a local temple festival committee and has been further developed to be able to be used by anyone.
Reports of various kinds can be got from this software which is useful for the organization in the long run while providing final accounts and also to keep track of where the money is coming from, who handled it and eventually what it was spent for.
The software grants different access levels to different users based on the privileges assigned to them. In this way detailed and full featured access would be given to the President while junior committee member would be given only entry level access
The software is also armed with security measures to prevent unauthorized login and also backup facility. This backup facility is important because such organizations/committee work on the principle that in charge members change every year or every event. At the end of the event accounts is handed over. The software has also the provision to view previously backed up data and hence view accounts of previous events.
Receipt given of while donation is made, donations recieved through mail, unfulfilled receipt commitments all can be recorded using this software.
