Harry Potter -
The Phenomenon
With the last of the Harry Potter released, we can say without any hesitation that the Harry Potter Phenomenon has come a full circle. Harry Potter fans say "It is like an end of an era" and me being one of them have to agree with that statement.
I am a die hard Harry Potter fan .... no question about that. I have enjoyed all the books in the series.
But... what is good about it? what is the hype about it?
The main moral line in the story - the old Good Vs Evil is one the strong points of the book. Though it is tried and tested concept, J.K.Rowling has been able to give it a spin. It is the same old story (Good Vs Evil) but in a totally different package.
The author brings in a whole new world for the reader through the Harry Potter series.
The characters and whole world of witchcraft and wizardry is beautifully depicted and the various characters more or less come to life in the pages of the book.
Even though each book is a continuation of the previous one, each has a story line of its own which in its own right is very gripping and intriguing.
Through Hogwarts we are introduced to a whole new world - the world of magic. I am sure that there is some part in all of us which believes in magic and J.K.Rowling does a wonderful job of bringing the world to us in a way which is fascinating but yet believable to some extent.
Then there is the main character - Harry Potter himself. Through all the books, you just feel the emotions that the character has to go through, whether it is sympathy, indignation, happiness etc. We can't help feeling sorry for Harry because of the fact that he has no parents. We can help feeling anger because of what he has to go through because of Voldermort and Snape. Harry Potter is a very believable character - someone who has been given a raw deal in life and wants to prove himself through the chances that he gets in his life.
All the characters are more or less life like. The names and things that they do are "wizard-like" but their characters are like normal people who we come across in our day to day life.
All of us would know at least one such character in real life among the various people in the book. A "Snape" - the teacher who screws you any chance he/she gets. A "Ron" - the loyal friend who would stick with you through thick and thin. A "Hermione" - the know it all, irritating at the same time loveable when you actually get to know her. A "Hagrid" - that loveable innocent person who gets treated like crap because of some of the raw deals he has got in his life. A "Mcgonagall" - the no nonsense teacher who would give you punishment in a split second. "Fred" and "George" - the trouble makers in school.
Creating a world like Howgarts is the biggest achievement. We all know that it is not possible to have a world like that in real life but we can't help but enjoy the views, fantasies and images that come to mind when we read about the school.
Then there is the movies. The movies that have been released based on the books just have increased the hype. And the viewer manages to put a face to all the characters and the places like "Diagon Alley" or "Howgarts School" etc.
With the end here already to the immensely popular Harry Potter Series, all Harry Potter fans can only hope that is not really the end and not really "Goodbye".
Designing is no more the specific and expensive field that it used to be. Now a days you find designers at every nook and corner . But one major difference from now and before is the rise in competition. Since the picking up of the internet all over the world, the competition for the spot of designer has risen dramatically. And what is the result of this - competitive and dead cheap prices for designs. The situation is such that a design which would have cost $300 can now be got for even $50 because always they will be some designer who wants to prove himself or wants to make some quick cash.
